Process behind knowing a show has been released

Hi guys,
I've just discovered you app! It is very impresssive and so useful!!
I wonder how you know when a new episode has been released and what is the process behind this? Do you scrap "What's on TV" guides or things like that?
I plan to make a webapp listing all DVD releases in France, so your insights would be very helpful.
