Where are the sources?

I saw that EZTV was referenced for a particular TV show but is this the source that's used for all downloads? It would be nice if users could feel a bit safer and know where these things are coming from. Can't find any documentation on this.

    Hi Steve,

We use the main release groups as our sources: EZTV, TVTeam, VTV, sceneline, scenebalance... TVShows downloads the episodes from The Pirate Bay, but only these users' releases (we prioritize one over the others individually for each show, with factors like seeds, their regularity for that show, etc.), so as long as you don't check the "additional sources" option in TVShows preferences, you are safe.

The "additional sources" option is for people that want the episode no matter what (sometimes our trusted sources don't publish it), with it checked, when the episode isn't available from our trusted sources, TVShows performs a search in Torrentz (a search engine for torrents) and downloads anything available there. There is no user check, so sometimes this can lead to bogus files. That's why the option is disabled by default.

If you want to check which TPB user is the source for a particular show, you can click "Edit" once you're in the show's window, then you will see the feed URL at the top, the last characters are the main TPB user, if you copy that URL and paste it into a browser you will see all available episodes and the user who has published each one. Please click "Cancel" to close that window, if you click "Save" you will be converting that show in a custom show (you will see a gear icon over the show image), then if we make changes to the feed your subscription won't be updated.
