Same episodes downloading at every check

Hi,

I am trying to set up subscriptions using a feed from a private tracker. It's all working correctly, except that TVShows is downloading the same episodes every time it refreshes the feed. How can I fix or further troubleshoot this?

   Yeah I'm having the same issue, almost as if it's not even looking at the log to note which episodes have already been downloaded.

   I have a similar problem. I'm using custom rss feeds which update with the latest best torrent file versions they find. Once I've already downloaded an earlier version of an episode I don't need the newer version. I know that's how custom rss feeds are implemented but it shouldn't be that difficult to make them work like the built in feeds. Surely the app can remember which torrent files it has downloaded and filter the rss feeds accordingly. Thank you!

   Hi all,

   Currently, TVShows treats differently custom shows and preset list shows. With preset list shows, TVShows only downloads a new item in the feed if the episode number is greater than the last one it downloaded.

   With custom shows, TVShows doesn't check the episode number, just the published date. If a new item appears in the feed, it downloads it. We made that change in RC2 (r604) to allow the use of multiple show feeds (imagine a feed with The Newsroom, now airing season one, and Weeds, now airing season eight: if TVShows treated custom shows and preset list shows the same way, once Weeds 8x01 was downloaded, TVShows wouldn't download any episode of The Newsroom, since all its episode numbers would be lower than 8x01), but this isn't suitable in two cases:

   • If you use feeds with more than one version of the same episode: as TVShows doesn't care for the episode number, it will download propers and other versions of the same episode. This seems to be jin2005's case.
   • If you use feeds whose items do not have a proper publication date (PubDate): TVShows cannot see nor store the date of the last downloaded item, so it will download everything each time it checks. This seems to be bobz's case (and possibly Travis').

   We are working on dealing better with these cases while maintaining support for multiple show feeds, but for now, the only thing you can do to avoid this issue is downgrading TVShows to the previous version, RC1 (r591), which you can find here. I would strongly recommend it if you're in the second case, because having the same episodes downloaded over and over again can be really annoying, but if it's just newer versions that get downloaded, check the release notes first to see if it's worth to loose the new features.
