Tv shows stopped downloading new episodes
Help!
i love this program and but for some reason tv show stopped downloading my shows....
i tried to "manually" check for new episodes but it doesnt work
i have an imac, running mavericks and vuze is my torrent program.
its not mavericks since i had the same problem 2 weeks ago when i was running mountain lion.
everything was fine and dandy untill the tv show app just stopped working.......
please help i desperate tv show geek

Hi raoel,
Have you tried to manually download an episode? (click on a show cover, then on the arrow icon next to any episode) If it shows a connection error, then your ISP is probably blocking The Pirate Bay (where we get most of our shows from) and you will need to activate the "prioritize magnets" option in TVShows Preferences.
If it isn't the problem, please send us the log (About tab -> View logs, please paste the content into a text file and attach it to the message) so we can take a look.

Hey hi, I have the same issue than Raoel, some shows just don't download anymore, and there isn't any episode in the list to do it manually.
The thing is, it's not with most of the shows, it just concerns 3 or 4.
I activated the "prioritize magnets" and I'll come back to you for help if it doesn't work.

i toggled the prioritize magnets but thats no solution.
i tried to manually download some shows no solution

Hi all,
Murse, if you don't see any episode in the list then it's a different issue. Does it happen with specific shows (which?) or with all of them? Custom or preset list subscriptions? Can you attach the log?
raoel, when you try to manually download an episode, does it give you any error message? Is it possible that the destination folder is an external drive and it isn't mounted?

i have sort of the same problem. few weeks now, i can't download although a pop-up windows appears with the new episode and I add it to the transmission list.
Tried the priorize magnets with no result. Mannual download, same thing. I have access to piratebay from my browser.
Suggestions?

Hi panos,
When you say a "pop-up window appears", is it possible that the window is from Transmission asking you where to save the episode? Please read this article from our knowledge database.

yes exactly that. i just mentioned it to tell that everything up to tha point seems to be ok. The problem is that the downloading does not start.

I'm sorry koumis, I don't understand your issue. You can avoid the pop-up window if you follow the steps from the knowledge base article I linked. When you say "the downloading does not start", you mean after you click "ok" in the pop-up window? What do you mean by "does not start", it is added to Transmission but stopped? It's added but it has no seeds? It's added but it stalls at the "red zone" (when using magnets, it takes a little longer to start downloading because Transmission has to gather the information that was otherwise in the torrent file, when Transmission is doing that it shows the download in red with a magnet icon)? It's not added? If so, is there any error message? Please provide more detail...

the problem is not the pop-up window. I know this is due to the preferences i have, i want it there!
the problem is that the episode is not downloading, either because there are no seeds or something else. When i put the magnet links it stays red (for days). It does not stop, there is no any error message.
Just doesn't download. I have files-episodes at 0% for days.

ok, thanks koumis. This is a completely different problem (and then there were three...), in this case TVShows is working properly but either the torrent files/magnets are not working or there's an issue with your torrent client.
Does it happen with specific shows/episodes (which?) or with all of them (please provide examples)? Custom or preset list subscriptions? Can you attach the log? Can you try the same torrent files in another torrent client and/or Mac?

All the shows i am subscribed has the problem above; Bib Bang theory,Homeland,How I met, Newsroom (plus House of cards,sherlock which hasn't start yet so I don't know for sure)
The only thing that I tried is to download the .tor file/episode from another tracker (a private one) with no problem at all. I also have zero problems with other files or torrents i download from private or public trackers.
Which torrent client you want me to try as I dont have another Mac to test it.

Hi koumis,
Looking at one example in your log, HIMYM 9x05, the torrent TVShows downloaded has 23k seeds at this moment. I checked my own log and my TVShows downloaded the same file in the usual time. So the issue is definitely related to your setup. This doesn't mean you have something misconfigured, we have had reports in the past where Transmission had a similar behavior (usually in older Macs, I did in fact experience it in an old PowerMac I used as a download server). Just try any other torrent client (uTorrent, Vuze...) to confirm it.
We don't have a solution, it's a strange issue but since the torrent is working, we can't do anything about it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ohhh. I see. Let's hope that it will fix soon. I'll try to use another client and reinstall Transmission.

I have a pb with my app Tvshows, all lists of episodes for all shows are empty.

To all you guys I use this config (see file) together with VUZE which is working fine.
I experienced the same problems at first but a reboot of my new macbook (2013) problems where gone. Maybe the site being down has a relation with your problems.

tv shows stopped downloading new episodes. the new episodes are not a part of the tv show's episode list.

I have the same problem, No new episodes are being downloaded and no new episodes apear on the list. Is there a solution for this?

TVShowsApp has likely stopped working because the thepiratebay.se (TPB) has been offline since it was raided on Dec 9, 2014. According to TorrentFreak, there's no resolution currently in site.
The TVShowsApp app on your computer downloads feeds for each show from the TVShowsApp website. For example, the default feed for The Big Bang Theory is at http://tvshowsapp.com/feeds/The%20Big%20Bang%20Theory.xml If you look at that URL, you'll notice that all of the links to individual episodes are pointing to http://torrents.thepiratebay.se/.... Since that site currently doesn't exist, any of the existing feeds simply won't work. This isn't a problem with the TVShowsApp per se, it's just because TPB sites are down.
The second problem is that the TVShowsApp site can't update their own feed files with new episode data, again because TPB site is offline.
So, how do we work around this? While I've been a loyal TVShowsApp user for years, waiting for a fix is too frustrating for my ADD self. I'm going to give Catch (https://github.com/mipstian/catch/releases) a try, which uses http://showrss.info/ for it's feeds. Hopefully that works.

Guys… ThePirateBay is down, and TVShows worked only seeking links through this website.
The development team needs to look torrents from another board. Until they don't do it, then the app won't work anymore.

Hello :)
This is just a question about my TV show app,
I have downloaded it and it sort of works. I can subscibe to my shows but I cant downlaod any of the episodes becuase it keeps saying I have network errors but my internet is working perfectly normal. And I have checked the prefrences and I ticked the "prioritize magnets" box but when I try again, it still doesnt work.
oh and by the way I have a Mac.
If your able to help that would be appreciated :) Thanks :)

Bill. I can attest that tvshows works with showRSS feed. As mentioned, catch will get you the same results.
For anyone else interested, TVShows does work, just not with their pre-loaded subscriptions. You have to add custom subscriptions using an alternate (non-TPB) feed.

how do i use "showRss" personal feed. A friend set this app up to work with my ruku and my mac and with the pirate bay site down I can't get new episodes. I have read all the above comments but don't know enough to fix my issue.

Log in to showRSS -> go to "your shows" and choose your shows from the list. -> go to "feeds" click on "generate" by "Your personal feed" -> choose "Use raw episode names" and "Enable namespaces" (my Catch will not recognize the feed link without these settings for some reason) then just copy the link...

Are you familiar with Plex for Mac? The is the program I use to play my shows back and steam them thru my tv. When I change torrent programs to showers how does plex know where to get shows?

Thank you Bill for responding, but I do need a little more help. I created an account with showRSS (was using TVShows2) and have chosen a show to follow, changed the feed settings as you suggested but not sure where to "copy the link" too. Also I play back my media vis Plex on my Mac streaming through my Ruku to my TV.......will that still work as is or do I have to change more settings?
