Save each show in its own folder
Greetings,
I have a feeling this might be a better way to utilize the "Save each show in its own folder" setting in TVShows.
Currently i have shows saved in a location under the "Episode save location" drop-down.
What happens when I also click the "save each show in its own folder + Create season subfolders" AND I have the "automatically open each torrent file after download" checked, is that the shows get downloaded into the "episode save location" location, and TVShows continues to create the folders for each show, albeit, it's empty.
I think a better way to handle this would be to have the torrents downloaded into their respective Show Folders first, THEN the torrent should open within that location, and stored there.
I hope that sort of makes sense and explains my dilemma :P

Hi vbadtz,
This option only works with Transmission, and if you set its destination folder to "Same as torrent". So if you set a particular destination folder in Transmission (or in any other torrent client), no matter where TVShows downloads the torrent file (it does store it into the show folder), the torrent client will download it in the preset folder.

I'm aware of that, and I am using Transmission.
The issue is ... when you have the "save each show in its own folder" ... it won't do that, it'll save it all into the folder that TVShows downloads it's torrents to.
Transmission IS set to "download to the same destination folder as the torrent".
My suggestion was for TVShows to save the torrent file into the new TV directory, THEN have the torrent opened from inside there.

Ok, our intention is for it to work as you say (otherwise it makes no sense), but that can be a bug when creating new show folders (maybe TVShows downloads the torrent file faster than it creates the folder so it stores it into the default destination folder), we'll look into that. Does it also happen when the folder is already there?
Thanks for reporting!

It creates the season folders as well within the TV show folder.
After it downloads the first episode into the default folder, I've turned off "save show in it's own folder" ... so I'm actually not sure, if/when it downloads a 2nd episode, if it'll download properly to the right folder.
It should work on first try :) The problem I do think, is that TVShows opens the file too quickly (before the folder is created the first time).... maybe there's a way for TVShows to query the destination folder, wait to create it if it's not in there, and THEN open up the torrent file.
Currently, I went back to just having a flat list of shows downloaded in one long list of files. Would be better of course if it was organized into folders by show :)

Ok, thank you again. I don't use the feature myself but on betatesting before it was launched it worked well, maybe we broke it afterwards.
I'm closing this discussion since I opened an issue in our GitHub, this way our developer can handle it better. You can comment there if you have an account, too.
Best regards.
