[SOLVED] Magnetic Links with headless Transmission servers (workaround)
For those of us who use a torrent daemon on a separate box, magnetic links just don't work. We need something like a torrent file to actually transfer to a 'watch dir' on the server. So when TPB quit using torrent files, we were left unable to download shows. But...
Here's a temporary workaround!! (posted as a reply elsewhere but I thought significant enough to get its own thread so people notice)
Use transmission-remote-gui on your mac, it will capture the magnetic links and send them to the NAS. Just tested it and voila!

Sorry for the late reply, your message was incorrectly flagged as spam :(
Thank you for the solution, luckily the reply you posted in the other thread wasn't flagged as spam so people were able to see it.
Since then, the TPB broken torrent links have been fixed so it seems that this will not be needed, but as we don't know what TPB plans are regarding torrent files, we'll keep this in mind.
