Issues with Magnets

Hello,

On our setup .torrent files are downloaded to a NAS folder and picked up by a Transmission script running at the NAS server. So no need for a computer to be on but for first running the program and gather all the daily .torrent files. Unfortunately, with the recent ban of TPB in the UK we are getting more and more "ERROR: [616 ~ Downloader] Unable to download file". The fix of checking the magnet link option is no possible as the remote transmission needs the .torrent file. Is there a way of not using TPB at all? After all most shows are available at many other sites as torrent files.

   Facing the same issue here, same setup. Looking at running transmission.app on the same box as TVShows.app but would prefer to switch trackers to something like KAT that still uses torrents and has similar content as TPB.

   Here's to hoping the Devs have some magic up their sleeves!

   Here's a temporary workaround!!

   Use transmission-remote-gui on your mac, it will capture the magnetic links and send them to the NAS. Just tested it and voila!

   Thanks Darl, I will check that today and let you guys know. Indeed, what I thought could be a solution (for the time being) would be a local program to download the .torrent file into the NAS folder. Something like transmission or uTorrent but just to get the .torrent from the magnet and that's it. Maybe somebody would want to add this to TVShows for the next release :-) ...

   Hi all,

   TPB is a wide source for TV shows, with user control (we can avoid getting anonymous files), that's why it has been our preferred source. But we are always trying to find new sources, and now that TPB has moved to cloud only, we will priorize that. However, this is not an easy job, it's not even our primary job and there is only one developer, so it may take time.

   In the meantime, you can use magnets or find your own sources with torrent files (not that easy :P, KAT for example doesn't offer show based feeds, and the feeds don't have a "standard" format so TVShows doesn't understand it). Or use Darl's suggestion. Sorry for the inconvenience.
